๐๐ข๐๐ข๐, ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ โ In a swift response to the recent powerful earthquake that struck Bogo City in the province of Cebu, the Tzu Chi Foundation in Bohol initiated a 2-day large-scale simultaneous relief fund drive in 6 major shopping malls in Tagbilaran City on October 4 and 5,2025.

Tzu Chi training volunteers, Tzu Chi Youth, Tzu Chi Scholars and Tzu Chi Staff set out early in the morning driven by the urgent need to gather essential resources through financial donations to aid the victims in Cebu who are currently facing displacement, damaged homes, and a lack of basic necessities in the aftermath of the tremor.

The earthquake, which registered a significant 6.9 magnitude, rocked Bogo City on the night of September 30,2025 at 9:59 pm, causing extensive damage to infrastructures, including homes, schools, public buildings and churches, claiming 68 lives and leaving several hundreds injured. Due to fear of the aftershocks, many families refused to go back to their homes and had chosen to live and stay in open areas with limited access to food, clean water, and medical supplies.
The spirit of giving during the fundraiser was fueled by personal experiences of several donors empathizing for having survived Bohol’s major earthquake in 2013. They shared that placing themselves in the victims’ situation moved them to act and help in every way they can no matter how small the contribution is.
