The awarding and recognition ceremony on July 7, 2024, of the new, returning, and graduated scholars testifies to the great commission and compassion the Tzu Chi Foundation has dedicated to the Province of Bohol since 2013. 89 new scholars and 240 returning scholars and 57 graduates have been recognized, among which are with Latin honors: 8 Magna Cum Laude and 9 Cum Laude alumni.
Jecyl Auxtero, a new scholar and an Apostolic Christian, serves as a living testimony that service and help to others do not know religion or boundaries, knowing that the Tzu Chi Foundation is a Buddhist Foundation. โ€œI am thankful that despite differences in religious beliefs, the scholarship of the Foundation accepted me with a whole heart, and I thank God for this.โ€
Another new scholar gratefully shared his experience of how he became a scholar and his expectations from the Tzu Chi Foundation. โ€œI am hopeful that Tzu Chi is an ideal foundation where it can help me not just for being a student, but also molding my character as a person,โ€ Ken Rainer expressed.
โ€œWe are receiving help through the scholarship program and at the same time, they are also giving us the opportunity to help others through volunteerism.โ€ Mia Queen O. Ningasca, a graduate scholar with Latin Honors also expressed her deepest gratitude for the undying support the Tzu Chi Foundation had given her. The financial assistance, humanity classes, and even the opportunity given to her to engage in relief operations made her realize the uniqueness of Tzu Chi Foundation.
Bro. Jack Gaisano, the scholarship program forefront of the Tzu Chi Foundation in Bohol Office, has high hopes for many lives to turn for the better by providing educational assistance to the deserving students. โ€œWe are in Bohol because of the guidance of Master Cheng Yen. She has always been very concerned since the Bohol earthquake back in 2013 and had reminded us not to forget this province.โ€
