Bro. Rey Peñalosa’s journey as being part of the Tzu Chi Family for 15 years reflected his wisdom and leadership as he led the skills learning on event planning. The 2-part seminar-workshop aimed to sharpen the minds of the campers, indulging them in project pitching, giving each group an opportunity to brainstorm several activities and come up with the most promising one.

Bro. Rey further went into the depths of his talk by giving insights to the campers on how to have the seminar progress schedule and documents pertinent to event planning that are beneficial for the campers to learn and apply to their future activities and initiatives.

After the skills learning workshop, 19-year-old Janice Bernido, shared her learnings, and gratitude to the Tzu Chi Foundation for initiating such an insightful workshop, which is really a great help to their journeys, especially as students and Tzu Chi scholars.

Listening attentively and participating actively, youth camper Beah Jezelerie Dulalas shared, “In this youth camp, I learned a lot that changed my perspective in life. I promise that I will do my best to use and bring the knowledge I learned throughout my life journey.”

“I’m just hoping for each one of them to grow like a light, like a firefly; they can be one of the lights in each of community,” Bro. Rey said, expectant to the campers to retain and maximize the lessons they have learned in the session in their schools and communities. The campers were given the chance to roam around, to listen, and ask questions about the presentations of the other groups, which gave them fun and excitement. Gained knowledge and wisdom really dwelled in their eyes as they continued to roam around, exploring and benchmarking new ideas.
The Tzu Chi Foundation’s seminar-workshop, provided invaluable lessons in event planning and community service, impacting the participants. Through practical exercises and insightful reflections, campers gained essential skills and a renewed sense of purpose. As these young leaders carry forward the knowledge and values imparted during the workshop, they are poised to make meaningful contributions to their communities, embodying the spirit of Tzu Chi in their future endeavors.
